February 29, 2012 was Leap Day. For client, Jay H. Samuels, DDS, sasse agency designed a Leap into oral health, Facebook “like” campaign. Working in tandem with a new blog (research, written and posted monthly by sasse agency writers) blasted to the dentist’s patient database by a dental-specific e-blast company (Smile Reminder), the Leap into oral health campaign found its biggest boost through the sasse media matrix (SMM), where posts about oral health were made throughout the day on a variety of different social media outlets (including FB, Twitter, LinkedIn, on-line forums and more) resulting in a measurable upticks in Dr. Samuels’ website and FB activity. The campaign included not only information about oral health, but also an added incentive to “like” him on FB.

Between 8am and 10pm sasse posted commentary on social media outlets as exemplified by the following FB strategic layout.

Leap into oral health: Dentists are toothsayers. A recent article in the Wall Street Journal details what dentists have always known to be true: “the mouth provides [a] … view of the body as a whole. Some of the earliest signs of diabetes, cancer, pregnancy, immune disorders, hormone imbalances and drug issues show up in the gums, teeth and tongue.”

Dentists are “winning” the medical popularity contest. The results of a recent study in “American Journal of Public Health,” show that Americans see their dentist more than their doctor.  The study shows that 20 million Americans (6% of children and 9% of adults) went to their dentist in 2008 but not their doctor.
