In the evolving marketing landscape, social media has become increasingly relevant and useful when it comes to promoting a product or service. Establishing a presence in this digital space is extremely important as most people use these apps to find resources and information on various topics. Social media has become a space for all ages, as there is content tailored from wide audiences to small niche groups. The most popular apps and resources are Tiktok, Instagram, X, Linkedin, Facebook, and Youtube.

 

Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is a major tool to help brands increase their engagement, awareness and credibility. This is especially important for younger, receptive audiences, as they look up to a lot of influencers for advice. For example, Alix Earle is a highly successful influencer who blew up in popularity a few years ago. She now has millions of followers, brand deals with major corporations, and has even starred in a few super bowl commercials. Companies will pay top dollar just for her to promote their product in a picture or video on her profile. She has even sold out makeup products just by sharing the item with her audiences. She is just one example of how significant these people can be to brand success.

 

Engagement & Transparency 

When brands have a social media presence, they can open their comment section to consumers and media users. This can lead to open and honest conversations where people can share their opinions and even advice for improvement. This type of engagement is also important as it can create a relationship between brand and everyday customer. I have also seen brands reply to comments and send free products to their customers, leading to consumer appreciation and loyalty.

 

E-Commerce

Product sales through social media have become a popular tool over the past couple of years. Instagram and Tiktok are notable apps that have features where you can link products and have a way to immediately purchase through the app. For example, when I scroll on Instagram and Tiktok, I will see a sponsored post with a product and a link to purchase. This is also helpful because it provides an easy way for companies to make sales, as customers don’t even have to navigate outside the app to make purchases.

 

Consistency & Recognition 

Creating a plan for consistent uploaded content is important for establishing reliability, brand recognition and engagement with followers. If you take a look at highly successful brands, you will see that they are constantly uploading pictures and videos to their social media accounts. For example, Rare Beauty is a makeup company founded by singer and actress Selena Gomez,  that generates millions of dollars in revenue per year and has relationships with major influencers. They consistently post on social media and hire people with major followers to promote their products. It is evident that they emphasize the importance of consumer relations as they are very engaging with their followers. You can see that they have created a very loyal fan base and aren’t just popular because the head of their company was already famous.

 

Metrics

Social media is useful when it comes to analyzing your engagement and growth through metrics. Brands can view their follower and audience growth rates on their various accounts. They can also see how many clicks they get per post, and how many people see their posts versus actually following and subscribing to their account. Having these metrics readily available is important, as it shows you what you are doing well and what you can improve on.
